Leptin’s work is to tell your brain when you’ve had enough to eat. This is why leptin is often indicated as your “fullness hormone.”

Because when leptin is operating normally, you feel satisfied after each meal, and you don’t bear from those obnoxious cravings that can appear out of nowhere.

Ghrelin is called the “hunger hormone.”

Essentially, the more ghrelin you have in your system, the hungrier you are.

So if you find yourself fighting cravings and can’t seem to stand back from the fridge after dinner, it may be due to raised ghrelin levels.

Keep in mind that ghrelin acts directly on the hunger center of your brain by activating your brain’s response to highly addictive, sweet, and fatty foods.

Much worse, it appears ghrelin makes us fatter whether or not we eat more!

And since higher ghrelin levels lead to more fat whether we overeat or not, it makes perfect sense that a decrease in ghrelin would result in accelerated weight loss.

But the best part is that by decreasing ghrelin levels, you’re not as hungry and prone to desire the foods that wreck your weight-loss efforts.

 

Two simple steps to improve the function of ghrelin:

    Sugar avoiding: Avoid sugar-sweetened drinks and high-fructose corn syrup, which proven to impair ghrelin response after meals (Ghrelin studies5, 6).
